POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Under the direction of the campus administrator, the individual will serve as the nurse and secretary.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

                       Education:   Graduate of an accredited four year professional school of nursing education program

                    Experience:    Nursing/secretarial experience preferred

             Licenses/Other:    Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas

                                                from the State Board of Examiners

 

MAJOR NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Performs student health appraisals and screenings and prepares reports
  • Provides emergency care, first aid, and routine health care
  • Counsels with students on individual social and health problems
  • Examines students with suspected communicable diseases and takes appropriate action
  • Cooperates and is familiar with the work done by welfare, social services, health and other community agencies
  • Notify parents of accident or illness and secure medical care for students in emergency cases (if parents or emergency contact cannot be reached).
  • Administer medications to students according to district policy and procedures.
  • Performs student health appraisals and screenings and prepares reports
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

MAJOR SECRETARIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed
  • Register/enroll students
  • Maintains Skyward records and coding of students
  • Maintain payroll time book.
  • Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  • Perform routine bookkeeping tasks including simple arithmetic operations to maintain campus budget and purchase order records
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned 

NECESSARY SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Proficient typing, word processing, and file maintenance skills.
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
